Black Pants - A Staple Wardrobe Piece

Earlier this year I started searching for my "ideal" pair of black pants.  This "ideal" thing is a difficult situation my brain gets itself into on a regular basis.  I come up with an idea of something very specific that I want, and then I spend a ridiculous amount of time searching for such an item.

After probably six months of casual searching (and one purchased pair of pants that I didn't love), I found a pair at Forever 21.  They are almost exactly what I was looking for, and if I remember correctly, were a whopping $14.90.  I've worn them too many times to count, so it ended up being totally worth it!  I love that I can dress black pants up, or go super casual.  I'm not sure how I survived so long without them.

My life these days means lots of driving kids around from one practice to another, running errands in between, and going to games/performances.  We have a dance performance to go to tonight, so I threw this outfit on and can put a jean jacket on with when it cools off later.  I have tried really hard to bring color into my wardrobe in the last few years.  I used to feel like wearing gray, meant I was wearing color.  I love black and that's mostly what I wore.  I still gravitate towards black when I shop, but I've made a lot of progress.  Now if I wear black or gray, I try to throw a pop of color in somewhere.

Tshirt - Target
Pants - Forever 21
Shoes - Target
Necklace/Earrings - Fine & Funky
On a side note, when I was a kid, the shoes I most longed for were a pair of Sam & Libby ballet flats.  All my friends had them and I thought they were the coolest things ever.  I think at the time they were outside of our budget, and also they were not made for awful flat feet like mine.  When I saw that Sam & Libby had made a comeback and was for sale at Target, I had to have some.  I bought the black sandals I am wearing above, and a pair of nude color that I also love.  My kid self is so happy!
